Your opportunities with continuing professional education
You can pursue continuing professional education in almost any profession. For example, if you’ve completed cooperative vocational training, there are many paths you can take.
One example is further education to complete a Bachelor Professional oder Master Professional degree. These degrees are equivalent to an academic degree in Germany and unlock new career opportunities.

Continuing education for recognition of your qualifications
If you’ve obtained your professional qualifications abroad, check first if they need to be recognized in Germany. If you’re missing something that’s required for full recognition, you’ll need to complete a refresher training. This continuing education makes up for any knowledge gaps. Once you’ve completed it successfully, you can usually work in your profession in Germany. This applies to regulated professions in particular.
If you come from a third country, you’ll need a residence permit for the purpose of foreign professional qualification recognition to complete a refresher training.
