An apprenticeship is a position at a company where you learn a recognized trade. You work there, gain hands-on experience, and attend vocational school at the same time. You receive an apprenticeship stipend for your work. Upon successful completion, you often have a good chance of being hired directly by the Rhineland-Palatinate-based company.
