Did you know children in Rhineland-Palatinate receive free education from day care to university?
Your children are safe and sound in Rhineland-Palatinate. Thanks to the recently passed law “Kita Zukunftsgesetz”, education from day care to university is now for free. Since January 2020, children can attend a day care centre free of charge as soon as they have reached the age of two. Furthermore, Rhineland-Palatinate is yet home to 77 certified “Schools of Europe” (Europaschule) and counting. These schools increasingly value diverse language skills and interculturality. Everywhere in Rhineland-Palatinate, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools and grammar schools have been declared “Schools of Europe”. 54 grammar schools even offer bilingual classes. Children in Rhineland-Palatinate already learn a second foreign language in primary school.
A wide range of colleges and universities
When it comes to choosing a subject of studies, Rhineland-Palatinate has a great amount of courses to offer. Choose between one of five universities located in either Mainz, Trier, Koblenz-Landau, Kaiserslautern or Speyer. Alternatively, you or your children have the possibility to benefit from practical training at various colleges which prepare students for future professions. Moreover, it is possible to study at a College of Finance, Public Administration or a private college.

Apart from excellent day care centres, schools and universities, Rhineland-Palatinate has a lot more to offer. Mainz, Trier and Koblenz are home to the state’s very own state museums. Interactive exhibitions and fascinating guided tours make history become a vivid experience. The cultural centre “Festung Ehrenbreitstein” in Koblenz alone attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The former Prussian fortress seasonally hosts pageants, concerts or festivals you can visit. From the fortress’ lookout, you get a great view of the so-called “Neuwieder Becken”, allowing you to see the “Deutsche Eck”, where the Moselle river joins the Rhine in a beautiful fashion. You will also find diversity of nature in the regions of Westerwald and Palatinate, where large woodlands, high mountains and deep valleys collide.
